Canon T3 vs Nikon D3100 for HD video?

I'm looking to buy a DSLR for recording HD video. I'm on an extremely tight budget of about $450 (I will most likely buy the camera used). The Nikon D3100 records 1080p video at 24fps and the Canon T3 records up to 720p at 30fps, but I have looked at test videos of both cameras and I'm seeing mixed results with the Nikon D3100. I see some videos that look great, and I see others that look absolutely horrible. However, I have not yet seen any bad looking test video using the Canon T3.Is there any reason the Canon T3 videos have more consistent quality over the Nikon? I would think the Nikon D3100 should have better looking video since it records in 1080p.
What camera is better for the money? They're priced about the same (within $20-50).

NEITHER!
For recording videos you should buy an actual camcorder. DSLRs are still-image cameras; their manufacturers have added gimmicky video capabilities to DSLRs so they could increase their profits. If you're foolish and end up buying the still-image camera for purposes it is not intended to fulfill, then fine, have fun wasting your money.
Check out the Vixia HF R300. Sony and Panasonic also make great camcorders.

Actually neither

Bu it you insist, the Nikon D3200 may be a better choice.
Here is why. It has to do with the performance of the cameras sensors.
- DSLR video mode. Nikon D3100.does anyone know how to switch to video mode?
- Whenever i shoot a video with my nikon d3100 the video comes out blurry?
- How to shoot video outside of video mode on Canon DSLRs?
- MEGLIO CANON NIKON D80 O CANON 1100D / nikon d3100?
- Nikon dslr or dedicated video camera for creating video?
