Canon Rebel XS vs Nikon d3000 LENS?

I want a to get an slr, it's between these too right now. But i heard something about lens compatibility or something about there being a difference. XS has more compatible lens or i don't remember. Can anyone tell me?

They both have a lot of lenses available. Some people are going to say that nikon has more because the F-mount has been around longer, and that is true, but unless you plan on buying used lenses from before 1990 you have nothing to worry about there. I would look into who has better quality and thats pretty much a toss up as well but you can check this site out and it might help you decide who has better lenses.http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/

Funny, I just bought the Rebel XS yesterday and I'm in love with this camera already. And the canon rebel has 60+ lens that canon alone makes compatible i don't really know who else makes compatible lens for the rebel but i'm sure there's tones p.s get this camera its amazing and easy to learn i've already got some amazing photos and if you can get the package deal from walmart with the 2gb SD card the case camera and a tutorial video (this video after watching improved my understanding and picture quality considerably.)

Nikon has not changed their thread since… 1958 I think, Canon in 1988 changed their thread to the current one. I highly doubt that any beginner at DSLR photography would own any such lenses.
One feature that the Nikon D3000 is missing is the fact that it does not have an autofocus motor- but that does not mean you can't use them. You can still manually focus. Most lenses that any beginner buys will most likely have the autofocus motor in the lens, so you should have nothing to worry about from that perspective.
The only REAL way to decide between the two cameras is to go to a camera store and simply see which one feels better in your hand, which one is easier to use, etc.take an SD card with you, take some test shots using the exact same settings and go home, look at them, and see which one takes the better picture in your opinion. Some may say Nikon and some may say Canon. It is very opinionated.
