Canon Rebel T1i (500D) or Nikon D5000?

I'm saving up for a camera and with christmas just around the corner, i'll probably get enough money to buy it by january. Have any of you tried either or both? Which would you recommend me to buy?

I love filming, but photography is also very very important. I've heard that that Nikon's pictures are under exposed while Canons are over exposed. Which would you recommend me to buy?

I know everyone says this but, hold them. You might find your self liking one of them a lot more.

If you already have and are still split. If you know anyone who has Canon or Nikon gear, it would be best to go with that system.

I was in a similar situation, and went with the Canon because my school year book and many of the people I know use Canon. If it was the other way around I would have gone the other way easily.

As long as you take the time to learn the camera and techniques, you will get great results with either camera, don't feel like you have to make a huge deal out of it.

They have similar features. Hold them. Either one will get you where you want to go, but you must hold them. You'll take 20, 000 pictures, you'll tale 1, 000 hours video.

Hold each on to see which is your friend.

Nikon and Canon are equal in products. The over exposed and under exposed statements are incorrect statements and this problem is related to the photographer, not the camera. Both cameras are capable of taking excellent photos but it's up to the photographer to decide the quality of the picture, not the camera.

The Rebel T1i is almost the same price as the newer D3100 which is better than the Nikon D5000.It's worth checking the new D3100's features, you'll be amazed. Also, the Canon T2i is a very similar to the D3100 so it's worth checking out too. The T2i goes for about $799.00 and the D3100 $699.

T1i has more noise and a useless Full HD video at 20fps.

The best is actually D3100.a few more $, but less noise, better quality, better video. And it has AF in videos.

Please, don't judge a brand on photos you've seen online. It's about the photographer, bad ones make bad photos mostly. You really think Nikon would be here if their cameras failed? Same for Canon.

Nikon D5000 utilizes 12 megapixel sensor which provides greater image quality.

In low light predicament, D5000 delivers clear picture as much as ISO 1600, and usable image at ISO 3200 in case you expose it accurately. Image excellent in large ISO setting is extremely satisfactory.

Like other Nikon DSLR cameras, D5000 also has auto ISO limiter. You can efficiently limit the ISO and minimum shutter velocity. The auto ISO functions quite well and precise many of the time. My favored approach to use this is to set the digicam to auto ISO, after which use Aperture mode and let the digicam alter the remainder for me.
