My camera is nikon d90.
the battery says it is a 7.4 Volts and i'm not sure how much the ipod thing is…
I hav the usb cable for my camera but do not have the battery cradle (AC adapter) charger.
So I wanted to know if I could plug the camera usb cable into the ipod charging block and into the wall or will it ruin my battery?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm in Melbourne for a week and left my camera charger at home.
I can't find a store to go and buy the charger and I do not want to pay for a universal charger.

NO! Never use a charger for an i Pod, or any other device on your Nikon battery. Just because it has the same voltage rating, does not mean it has the same milliamperage rating. Also your Nikon battery charger has built in safeguards that prevent it from over charging once it reaches full charge status. And your Nikon battery probably runs around 70-80 dollars to replace it. And it could cause a fire. It is not worth it.
