Can you use any memory card for SLR camera's?
If you were purchasing a SLR Camera could you use a normal cheap Transcend Memory Card or would you need a special type of memory card. I wondering this because I'm buying a Nikon D3000 on amazon and it said items frequently brought together then it said Lexar Memory Card but the problem is that it is 16 bucks! For only 8 gb can I use Transcend Memory Card's?
I would suggest at least a 4gb / Class 4 card.
Yes, you can use Transcend, Kingston, A-Data, San Disk or just about any other. Kodak sells memory cards.
Actually I suggest you buy a handful of 4 gb cards rather than one huge one. It will teach you to download all your images at the end of each day, thus reducing the chance of losing 16 gb in images due to an "accidental' deleting of all your images or worse, the card becoming corrupted because you don't format it from time to time.
I'm a pro and rarely use any of my 8 gb cards.
When I'm in the studio, I use 2 gb cards
When shooting sports, I use 4 gb cards, one for each half when shooting football or basket ball.
How much are you willing to pay for a memory card?
My first memory card was a 64 mb (yes mb) and it cost about $70. Times have certainly changed, but I would think that $16 for a memory card is a steal
