Can my nikon d50 lens fit a nikon d7000 body?
I'm planning to upgrade my amateur camera and really go into photograhy… I don't have the money to get the body and lens and was hoping to just by the d7000 body.
Added (1). Wow that's a very good point steve. I was thinking the d50 lack the cross-type focus points that the d7000 can provide. I like nite photography and was hoping the iso 6400 (expanded to 25, 000) can help with that… You're right, so far my pictures are really good with d50 once I photoshop it.
Nikon's been using the same lens mount for decades. Whatever lenses you have should be fully compatible with any newer Nikon DSLR body.
Yes it will fit, but the more important question is just what is the d7000 body going to do that you can't do with the d50?
Can you honestly sit down and make a long list as to why you think the new body will magically improve your photography?
A skilled photographer could take your d50 and produce photos that are stunning and FAR better than any photos taken with the d7000 by an unskilled photographer.
There are not truly "amateur" and "professional" cameras, only amateur and pro caliber PHOTOGRAPHERS. The act of buying another camera body (in place of an already good one) never made anyone a better photographer.

Your photos should be good on their own straight out of camera. A few adjustments is one thing but if you haven't nailed your shot in camera and have to rely on PhotoShop then the problem isn't needing a new camera, it's you needing to spend more time learning.
