Can I use the Vivitar 2000 Electronic flash with my Nikon d3100?

I found my moms old vivitar 2000 flash unit, and I'm wondering if it is safe to use on my nikon d3100? I've been trying to find online how many volts the flash is, but I can't seem to find it. What is the max for a nikon d3100?

I wouldnt risk frying your d3100 so i would either buy a safe sync from wein for about £40 but for that money you might aswell buy a new better flash, on sunday i bought a jessops 360afd which is brilliant but only £80
