Can I leave my Nikon in my car without the cold weather damaging it?
So i just got a nikon d3100 for christmas and were going to my grandparents house in new hampshire where it is very very rugged and they have a cottage in the woods so I do not have to be worried about it getting stolen. But if i leave it in the car for about 3-6 hours do you think it could get damaged? It will be in thick case/camera bag but still is it ok? Also it is about 30 degrees F. Outside.
The problem will be when you bring it into a warm home. The cold surfaces will cause moisture to condense on and in the camera.
Before you bring it inside place the camera in a zip lock bag and seal it. Then allow it to warm up in the house before you remove it from the bag. This will prevent the warm moist air in the home from reaching the camera and condensing on or in the camera. Condensation may form on the outside of the bag but thats ok.
Don't leave anything in car i never leave value stuff in my car
always take it with
i even put my dog in my jacket secure inside if i go out in cold weather
