Nikon SLR Cameras

Can I have a review on the Nikon D5100?

My primary use is for film making, and secondary as home video. Is it good picture, is it well built for film making, how long can I film on it, does it come with a SD card, AND importantly is the 24p good
(because that's what makes the MOVIE quality.) Over all what number would you give it out of 100. If there's something better out there for the same price, please tell me.

There are a dozen and one out there, dpreviews are among the best because the site is run by photographers and most of the reviewers have vast experience.

To be honest, though, if you're dead set on using a stills camera for video (I'd use a dedicated video camera in your shoes), take a long, hard look at the Sony Alpha SLTs - they're far better for video than any DSLR.

For the same price as the D5100 and all the accessories and equipment you will need to make it a viable video option, you can get an actual video camera that will do so much better in terms of video.

DSLR cameras are cameras with a video option, not a video camera with a photo option.

tell us your budget and we can find a good camcorder for you. Stick to Sony, Panasonic, or Canon for camcorders.

It's an excellent camera for pictures and movies.
As for how long it can film: Depends on the size of the Memory Card. It is capable of utilizing SD, SDHC and SDXC, you can record a lot longer on a 64GB SDXC card than an 8MB SD card.
Does it come with an SD Card: Depends on where you buy it
24p… Actually it's capable of more depending on settings enabled (NTSC vs PAL for example)

Not sure what your budget is so could not necessarily recommend other cameras. Lenses matter too. But Nikon and Canon are the 2 to stick with for DSLR. You would have to find the comparable Canon to check which might be better.
