Camera Recommendation for Office Use?

We need to purchase a camera for my office. However, we don't have too much experience in photography. The camera will generally be used for taking pictures at events. We want good quality pictures.
I read some reviews and they recommended the Canon EOS Rebel T2i and the Nikon D60. Our budget is approximately $600-800. Any recommendations/Advice?

Without experience with a DSLR, you will wind up using it as a P&S and that is the quality you will get. The bridge cameras can prepare someone to make the step up into a DSLR.
