Camera choice which would you pick?

Sony A58 or the Nikon d5100

D5100.

I've got the D5100 and my sisters got the A58… So if I want to use either I can… Not a problem

Pentax K-30, it's weather-sealed, has a pentaprism viewfinder, meters with MF lenses, and has body-mounted VR.

It can't match the Sony's video performance, but otherwise improves on the best features of the two you mention.

Of course, you could always find a dealer, handle them, and work it out for yourself.

I have the newer version the D5200 and love it. I also purchased the Tamron 18 x 270mm lens which allows you to reach out and snap at any range. Took pics at my daughter's birthday party & just went crazy with it. It's a beautiful thing to take great shots while still in the learning stage.
