Nikon SLR Cameras

If you had the choice between the Nikon F5, F4, and F100 what would you choose?

I currently am looking for a good Nikon SLR that is under $600. These three are ones that I keep finding people talking about. So if you had to choose between the three, which one would it be?

Also, if there's a different Nikon SLR for under $600 that you think is better, what is it?

I do mainly landscape and portrait work.

Added (1). Also, the 35Ti can be included in this as well.

Added (2). Lenses: 35mm 1.8G DX, 50mm 1.8D, and a 70-300mm f/4-5.6G. I'm not sure if these will work on the F100 model… Also, what lenses do you use/suggest for the F100? Secondly, does the quality of the image depend on the film being used?

Added (3). Are my lenses I listed compatible with either the F4 or the F100?

I own an F100 and love it. Keep in mind the 4 and 5 are HUGE and heavy. All three of those cameras will eat up AAs like crazy.

I suggest you get an F100 (or even an N80) and put the rest of your money towards glass.

Even a $20 N60 is capable of taking the exact same images as an F100 or F4 or F5.

What lenses do you own?

I like my F4 because it is the transition camera that uses all the Nikkor manual AI lenses as well as all the AF, AF-I and AF-S lenses currently made by Nikon.

I have not found that my F4 uses AA batteries like "crazy". I can usually put over 100 rolls of 36 exposure 35 mm film through it before I have to think about changing batteries.

The film used is up to you and what you want from the film.

I have found that for IR, I use Rollei film. For black and white, I use Fujifilm ACROS 100 and Kodak Tri-X. Colour, I use Fujifilm colour reversal film mostly. From time to time if I need colour prints, I use Velvia 100 film
