Whilst the D3000 is cheaper and will let me obtain another lens for just over the price of the D90 (i'm after a macro) the only problem I have with the D3000 is that it isn't the D90

Nikon d90 is about $300 more than the d3000 but it comes with a lot more.
-12.3 megapixel vs the 10.2 megapixel on the D3000.
-4.5 frames per second vs 3 frames per second.
-HD movie mode (D3000 doesn't even have that)

There are other things but overall the d90 is a much nicer camera where the d3000 is more of an entry-level camera. (just depends what you want and what you would use it for)
