Hello so i'm going to the beach tomorrow and i wanna bring my dslr ( nikon d3000 with a 35mm 1.8 )
and i just don't want sand getitng into the camera or my lenses. I never drop this or anything but what if the wind blows sand into the camera. It would be ruined! So what's something i can do to protect it?

The best way to protect it would be to not bring it

just… Don't, unless you have a dedicated waterproof case, which costs hundreds of dollars, just don't.

I would highly suggest NOT to bring the Camera with you mainly because there's way too much of a chance that the camera would get dropped into the sand.
So if you really want to bring a camera with you that bad go out and get a disposable camera instead and not having to worry about getting your other camera completely screwed up.

I've just come back from the beach. (I live in Asia) I spend most of my time there and will be there again this afternoon for low tide to photograph the pilgrims walking out to the pagoda on the island just offshore. You won't have any problems if you use common sense. I used 4 different lenses this morning, as I often do, without any drama. Of course it also depends on the conditions. You're not going to be changing lenses with fine sand swirling around you. I've been doing it for years along with the local photographers and their slrs who photograph the domestic tourists for a living. Those guys go out waist deep to get photos. Fine sand tends to gather in the areas where the tides seldom reaches, not where the regular tide comes in and goes out. But here's a question for you. What are the laws in your country concerning beach photography? You better check.

Best way to protect your DSLR is leave it home. If you have a fairly cheap point and shoot, bring that one instead. When not in use, put it in a clean dry towel for protection.
