I'm Looking for the best ones in the category of landscape and architecture. Macro photos & Portrait photos. I'm not looking for the most expensive but the most bang for your buck.

Landscape and Architecture: Your kit lens should do just fine. If you want something wider, consider the Nikon 10-24mm, Tokina 11-16 or Sigma 10-20mm/4-5, 6 (cheaper and better than the Sigma 10-20/3.5!).

Most bang for the buck is the Sigma 10-20mm/4-5, 6

For macro and portrait the Nikkor 60mm/2.8 is hard to beat. It's a full blown macro lens (except that it's too short for shooting living insects that are easy to scare away) and very good for portraits as well, as it is perfectly sharp at f/2.8.

Consider that the resale value on a quality Nikkor lens will be 75% of what you pay for it… A third party lens is barely sellable.

Get the Nikon 50mm 1.8, it's about $125, it's sharp, fast, flat, lightweight… Best lens for under $1000

Get the standard 18-105mm lens… Its multipurpose and i would rate it 4 stars for multipurpose…

If you wanna invest more go for the 18-200mm lens… And its 5 stars.

Other than that there are almost 50 lenses for different purposes… Macro lens is different, and so on… Why do you worry for that… You wanna go cheap get the standard 18-105mm lens…
