Best lens for my nikon d90?
Best lens for my nikon d90?
As an allrounder, Nikon's 24-70 f2.8.
Now if you share with us what you want the lens to shoot and what you want to spend we can get you better answers.
The 24 to 70 will leave you slightly short of wide-angle capacity, but it's an excellent lens for quality and for use in dark situations.
Without knowing you particular interests it's hard to advise further.
I really like the 18-105mm kit lens that came with my Nikon D90, but I'm thinking of replacing it with the new Tamron 18-270mm PZD. It will be a great "walking around" lens. If you really mean "best", then look over the Nikon lens lineup. I'm sure that AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4G ED VR is worth every penny.

Best for what purpose? The kit lens is very useful, don't knock the kit lens, good for 90% of the images you'll take.
How do you want to improve on it? Wider aperture will be helpful in low light and if you want to take 'Selective Focus' shots (where the subject is sharp, but the background blurred). You might want more reach with a telephoto, or you might want a wider field of view for Landscapes. You might want the better image quality (higher contrast, flat field, no distortion) of a prime or L series. Give us a clue.
