Your questions need to be asked directly of Best Buy.

You need more than someone holding the camera and looking at it and pronoucing it "fine"

What has to happen when a camera suffers a fall is this:

* the lens mount must be checked for two things. Damage and deformity.
* the camera must usually be taken apart and all of the electrical components inspected to assure that none of them are loose.
* the cameras focusing screen and pentamirror must be checked to see that they are seated properly
* the cameras mirror must also be checked for alignment and that the auto-focus sensors are working correctly.

A "technician" can't do this kind of thorough diagnostic of your camera by looking at it. You were basically blown off by someone without a clue.

In the future. NEVER leave the camera unattended whether on a tripod or not.

I hang a 15 bound sand bag on my tripod to help keep it sturdy when I'm using it.

Take your camera back into Best Buy and tell them that you want a full diagnostic done on it, but after your experience, my guess is that you wasted your money on the "Black Tie" insurance.

If Best Buy will not honor the insurance you bought, contact the insurer and have them supply a different repair option to you
