Are there any nikon 50 mm lenses autofocus compatible with the d40?
I Really wanted the nikon 50 mm f1.8, but i just found out that autofocus isn't compatible with my d40… So sad…
Added (1). I want autofocus to be there for when i may want it
What's wrong with manual focusing? If you're using the lens for portraits, autofocus won't do anyway. You really have to do it manually for precision.
There's a Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G AF-S, which will autofocus but costs over $500 and has a good deal of distortion. If you want to wait a while, there are rumors of Nikon unveiling a 50mm f/1.8G AF-S, which will autofocus with the D40, in the near future.
In the meanwhile, if you really can't wait, manual focus isn't all that bad. Unless you're taking action shots, you could get some amazing photos.
Nikon just announced an AF-S 50mm f/1.8 lens not a week ago. If you follow up on that, you may be able to find out when it comes out and get it.
the other option is already on the market- the AF-S 50mm f/1.4
