Alternatives to Nikon wide angle lens?

I want to buy a wide-angle lens for my Nikon D3000. Unfortunately I haven't got $800 lying around to buy theirs. I found a few from seemingly reputable sellers online, can anybody tell me if these are ok or if they will not work? I don't know a lot about photography and I don't plan to make it a career or anything, but I love photographing mountains and could really use a lens that will take a wide picture.

I hope my question makes sense. I want to be able to take long photos.

Added (1). I'm not kidding, I said already I don't know much at all about photography, please don't make fun of me! This is the whole reason I'm asking, is so I can know. No need to be a snot about it.

What alternatives would you suggest for a wide angle lens? Is there anything I can get for under $100? It doesn't need to be top of the line. If that just isn't possible you should just say.

Please tell me you're kidding.

What lens came with your 3000? 18-55mmG? An excellent little lens. 18-150mmG? Meh.so-so. I didn't care for it. Why on earth would you want to add one of those monstrosities to the end of Nikkor glass?

That thing you link to above is a wide-angle adapter that screws onto the end of your current lens. It is, quite simply, a piece of junk. Although they sell thousands of these things every day, they are purchased by beginners with low budgets. Those people then find out that these screw on adapters are not worth any amount of money. They are a waste of time and money.

If 18mm isn't wide enough for you, and you want a decent lens, you are going to have to start saving. That's all there it to it! I want a 300mm f/2.8 lens for my camera, but it'll be a while before I get the $6, 000 I need to do it!

The least expensive wide angle I see is the Tokina 12-24 at about $400. Good lens, and less than the Nikon. So there's your minimum goal… $400 saved.

I think the kit lens should do you just fine (18-55)! There are lenses out there that are wider than 18mm but 18mm is really wide and would be great for mountains. If you do not have this lens already, I would buy it! You could find one used for probably close to $100.http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-18-55mm-3-5-5-6G-AF-S-Nikkor/dp/B000ZMCILW/

Your budget is too small…
You can use Kit 18-55. Or to try exUSSR lenses:

Peleng 8\3, 5
Zenitar 16\2.8
Peleng 17\2, 8

In this case you can't use autofocus. Exposition gaging won't work probably too. I have no experience with your camera. On Nikon D3 autoexposition works perfectly, but I heard that younger models can have a problem with it.
