A Tips/Site for first time Dslr?
I would like to know like tips/tricks on a Nikon D5000? Any information would be great.
-Read your camera's manual
-Learn about exposure and how to compose well ( http://photoinf.com/General/Robert_Berdan/Composition_and_the_Elements_of_Visual_Design.htm )
-Shoot in anything but Auto
-Look for great lighting to hold your image
-Practice, practice, practice!
Make the best use of the swiveling LCD screen! Take pics from different perspectives… From ground level or top level…
Here is a good place to begin: http://www.nikonusa.com/...index.page
These sites are more generic but very useful:
http://www.kamerasimulator.se/eng/?page_id=2
http://www.digital-photography-school.com
http://www.photonhead.com
http://www.illustratedphotography.com/photography-tips/basic
http://www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html
The more you learn about light, composition, exposure and Depth of Field (DOF) and the more you practice using that knowledge the better your pictures. Good photography requires thinking and thinking requires time. Simply going out and using the point & shoot, point & shoot, point & shoot, point & shoot technique won't help you improve. Learn to think about your composition, your exposure, your light and whether you want a shallow or deep DOF.
If your interest is in landscape photography then by all means buy a tripod. In my opinion a tripod is mandatory for landscapes. These will help you choose one right for you:

There's no way I would have attempted this without a tripod.
