50mm prime lens dilemma?

Karl
Karl

I'm in the market for a new lens but can't decide
its a toss up between three models
nikon 1.4g 50mm, nikon 1.8g 50mm or the sigma 1.4g 50mm
i like the look and build quality of the sigma but i've heard bad things about its auto focusing…
will these lenses work on a nikon d3000 dslr camera?

All three will work well on your d3000 as long as you don't decide to get the d versions, I have the 50mm f1.4D nikon and I LOVE it. The 1.8D is amazing as well, i don't know much about the G lenses except i heard they are amazing as well, you will save a lot of money if you just go for the 1.8G, which is what i would recommend. I wouldn't get the sigma.their 1.4 primes usually have autofocus problems, i have their 85mm f1.4, but for 1000 dollars i would expect its autofocus to be amazing, which at least for me it is. If i were you, looking at an amateur perspective, i would go for the 1.8g.
