Just wanna ask for your advice. Do you guys recommend Nikon 1 J1? Cause i love that camera so much but i'm not sure if it'd come out good if i were to buy it.

I'm going to a meet and greet concert on Febuary, so i really wish to have an own camera. Not specifically for the concert but also others like party, and all.

I generally don't recommend anything from the Nikon 1 series, but since DSLRs aren't allowed it might be an OK choice - I usually recommend the D3100 (a DSLR) instead of a 1 series camera, but those usually aren't allowed in concert venues. The Nikon P7100 is a good chioce.

This is not a digital single lens reflex, but a new breed of camera accepting two lenses from the manufacturer. I have no doubt it is a good quality camera, but for $700 I would rather purchase a digital single lens reflex (DSLR) where I can choose from many specialized lenses that would cover any eventual need.

I'm sorry I don't know what a "meet and greet" concert is. But I'm with the other contributor that seems to know the DSLR's are not permitted in those situations. I would choose a high quality bridge camera like the Canon Powershot SX30 IS or a similar model. It is about half the price and you would not have carry an additional lens.

It's selling so badly in the UK that it is already being heavily discounted (under £300, so I guess that's around $400)

I'd suggest you ignore the Nikon fan sites and look at a number of independent camera review sites. The market leader in this sector is currently Sony, with Olympus coming in second (!), Panasonic and Samsung also have a strong showing. Fuji and Canon (the GX1 a different beast but very intriguing) have the two new camera that are absolutely top rated. All those brands have cameras that on the independent sites beat the ratings given to the Nikon 1 & J1!

It is worth considering. There are some cameras that have better image quality than the Nikon J1, but most are more bulky. Some Micro Four Thirds cameras are close. There are Sonys with very compact bodies, but their lenses are much more bulky. Cameras much more compact than the Nikon J1 have even smaller sensors and will be a step down in quality.

Only to people I dislike.
