Snapsort has the compact full frame Sony RX 1 beating both the Nikon D7100 and D610!
i was surprised given that it is a fixed lens model and has no viewfinder
i know it is full frame and very small but still
what do you think?
could you use a camera like that on a shoot?
Snapsort is about as reliable as a Russian ice skating judge. Nevertheless the RX1 is, by all accounts, a superb camera. Having a viewfinder has no effect on picture quality, and a fixed lens can be matched perfectly to its sensor, giving it an advantage over exchangeable lenses.
It won't be as versatile as either of those Nikons of course, and it will depend on what you want to use it for. If you're doing general purpose photography, 35mm is a pretty normal focal length, so there are plenty of things you could do with it.
If you want to shoot wildlife from a distance, then it's useless.
These camera rating sites all have their own way of rating cameras, but I wouldn't take any of them too seriously. They tend to be frequented by measurebators, not photographers.
Why do you think a fixed focal length and lack of viewfinder has anything to do with the quality of the final image?
Are you aware that the incredible full frame sensor in the Nikon D800/D800E is made by Sony?
I guess maybe you did not.
It's a compact camera, without a viewfinder, and no interchangeable lens!
The fixed lens is too wide for portraits. So pretty darn useless for photo shoots, and not wide enough for landscapes, useless for wildlife photography. Perhaps it would be good for general photography or for street photography where you want an unobtrusive little camera.
