Do i need an extra lens with this camera?
I'm considering buying the Nikon d 7100 camera but i was wondering…
is the default lens that comes with the camera body good enough, or would you recommend buying a separate lens for it?
The 18-55mm kit lens will be fine to get you started. It's not bad quality, and the range is ok for most uses, although it's a little short on telephoto 'reach'. If you wanted longer reach, you could consider getting the 18-105mm.
But, use the camera & lens for a good while before you decide what lenses you buy next - that way, you'll know what you need.
I've always felt people buy too much 'junk' for their cameras instead of learning how to use what they have. The default zoom lens that comes with most DSLRs is pretty versatile. I wouldn't consider buying an additional lens until you've felt you NEEDED something and didn't have it.

The 18-55 kit lens is fine to start with it's not a HORRIBLE lens and is good for groups, architectural, landscape and portraiture. It's not so good for things like sports, wildlife…
So it depends on what you plan on shooting. If you are buying this mainly to shoot your kids at baseball or hockey games then you might want to get a kit with a 2 lens kit (18-55 and 50-200 or whatever).
What will be more useful for you than a new lens is a book on photography like Scott Kelby's 4 book boxed set.
