Nikon SLR Cameras

Can a camera lens fit on all cameras?

Alright, I want a DSLR camera, but their really expensive. I'm 15 and have no job so I'm looking for something cheap.

I have this Kodak EasyShare, it's a compact camera and I want to upgrade to a DSLR. At Walmart they have a Nikon for like $228. My question is "Can I fit a Canon lens on a Nikon camera?"

Added (1). Oh yea, it's a compact camera, like the one I have now. Sorry, but thanks for helping me, it's good knowledge for the future.

No
Nikon cameras use Nikkor lenses
Canon cameras use Canon lenses
Pentax cameras use Pentax lenses
Sony cameras use Sony/Minolta lenses
Leica cameras use Leica lenses

I doubt that the $228 Nikon at Walmart is a DSLR. DSLR's usually start at more than $500. There are several different standard lens mounts, and a lens needs the right mount to match the body. Nikons need a Nikon mount, Canon needs a Canon mount. Some brands share the same mount. Sony uses the Sony/Konica/Minolta mount. Samsung used to make some DSLR's that use the Pentax mount. Panasonic used to make some DSLR's that use the Olympus Four Thirds mount. There are Olympus and Panasonic EVIL (electronic viewfinder, interchangeable lens) cameras that can use the identical Olympus/Panasonic Micro Four Thirds mount. Some brands like Sigma and Tamron make lenses in a variety of camera mount versions.

A camera at $228 (Nikon or other brand) is unlikely to be a true DSLR, thus will not take any other lens at all. And indeed, as others say, in the SLR market Nikons take Nikon lenses, Canons take Canon lenses etc etc.
