Buy Nikon 24-70mm lens?

I'm in the market to buy a nikon lens 24-70mm. Is there different lenses with these specs? It is a FX lens right?

The newer Nikkor AF-S 24-70 mm lens has Nano Crystal coating on the lens which reduces more ghosting and lens flare between the elements of the lenses than the older so called Super Muliti Coating on the slightly older lenses. This new coating produces better image clarity

Yes the AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8G ED is designed for the Nikon full-frame DSLR cameras. Its shown as an "FX" lens in the Nikon lens line.

Since you don't know anything about the 24-70, you are not experienced enough to justify the purchase of an $1, 800 piece of glass.

It's my workhorse lens on a full-frame D4 and D3… There has only been one version of this lens c/w nano crystal coating and silent wave motor. There are 3rd party versions like Tamron and Sigma but I don't think any quite match the performance. Previous lenses have been the 28-70mm and 35-70mm but AFAIK both are out of production.

The Nikkor 24-70 f/2.8 is an excellent lens and to my mind well worth the outlay.
