A DSLR lens with image stabilization attached to a converter?

I have a Panasonic 4/3rd DSLR and a converter that will allow Nikon lenses to be attached, my question is if I buy a Telephoto Nikon lens that has Image Stabilization (I'm shooting a documentary) and attach it to the converter will it still give me image stabilization?

Added (1). Er adapter I mean

Added (2). My trip is on monday and I somehow deleted the order for the Pansonic lens which means the mail would come on tuesday with fastest shipping available, the stores around here do not sell pansonic lens that i need

Probably not. Converters don't normally allow the camera and lens to "talk" so no auto focus, no image stabilization.

Doesn't Panasonic make a lens you can use?

No, you will have to use manual everything; manual focus, manual exposure, and image stabilization when cross branding lenses and cameras using an adapter.

And you most likely will not be able to focus to infinity. More or less, you are converting the lens into a macro lens.

Adapters don't work very well.

The VR feature on Nikkor lenses only work with Nikon Cameras.

It is curious that you would have a Nikkor lens but use a Panasonic 4/3rds camera.

Like mentioned, why is it that you can't find Panasonic or Olympus lens that will do the job for you.

Most people buy adapters hoping to make use of a lens they already own. If you have not bought the lens, then just buy a Panasonic and avoid all the loss of functions that go with adaptation.

As far as I'm aware the only converters that allow this are the ones for the Sony Nex system, though with the competition between Sony and Panasonic in this field I wouldn't be too surprised.

As I understand, Nikon's VR technology requires that the lens communicate with the body for it to work as the lens optics are adjusted to make light converge consistently in the same spot even with slight motion. I doubt it will work with a converter and other cameras.
