Would a nikon 1 j1 camera be allowed a concert venue?

I have tickets to go see lady gaga, do you think if they saw my nikon 1 j1 they'd refuse to let me in? If I take the pancake lens which looks super small they might think it's only digital, will they know? Do you think they'd confiscate it?

Always doubtful. I think you can probably fool them in thinking it's a compact.

I doubt it. Those gate guardians do not undergo camera identification seminars. All they know is if the camera can't be hidden in your hands, it can't go through them.

Your Nikon IS a digital camera… But that isn't the point. Filming and photography is not permitted, whether you want to use a phone camera, a compact point and shoot, an interchangeable lens compact or a great, big, professional camera… They are all forbidden.

The legality of confiscating anyone's camera is another matter: technically, they can possibly refuse you entry with a camera, but they don't have authority to take your camera… That might be the law, but believe me, you don't want to take on Security over the issue.

Why don't you just accept the rules and enjoy the concert? Your photos are never going to be as good as the promo shots: in fact, they are probably going to be B grade rubbish… Not worth the risk or the agro!

Nearly all cameras these days are 'only digital'! For your situiation it would depend on the security guards on the day if you haven't got a specific certificate of permission to use a camera - such permits are usually only given to a very small number of well-known press photographers.

Doubtless the security guards have already come across many people like you hoping to smuggle cameras into such concerts - they know!

It is a DSLR, very low chances!
