What's better canon 5d, or nikon d7100?

My best friend is a photographer and he always speak about canon 5d and nikon d7100, his birthday is close and i want buy one for him one of those two,
well i kind suck at photography, so i need you help, what should i buy for him canon 5d, or nikon d7100?

The question is not relevant. You are comparing a Nikon D7100 cropped sensor to an old Canon 5D full frame camera.

Either compare the Canon 5D to the Nikon D700 or the Nikon D7100 to the Canon 70D Read only professional reviews.

The Canon 5d is a Professional grade camera, the Nikon D7100 is not even in the same category.

You want to buy your friend a camera… Think of what equipment he currently owns so that you don't buy him something he has to buy lenses for. If anyone bought me a Canon, I'd sell it so I could support my vast collection of Nikkor (Nikon) lenses.

I know your intentions are good, but are about to spend lots of money for what will most likely NOT be what he needs or wants. I suggest that instead of trying to buy something about which you do not understand, you give him a gift certificate at B-H so he can get what he wants that will be right.
