Type of camera for a teenager to take pictures with?

Hi, I'm a 14 year old girl who loves taking pictures. What type of camera do you recommend to take pictures with? I don't want an extremely expensive one but I don't want a cheap one either. I prefer cannon, but nikon is good too.

Added (1). I want more of like an EOS type from Canon, not a small digital type one like Powershot from Canon.

Visit the Nikon and Canon (cannons shoot cannon balls) websites and take a look around.

Both companies make superb cameras so all you have to do is find one that has the features you want or need and that is within your budget

Sony's RX100 is around $500 and is a great camera.
Canon's S110 is $250 and it's also a great camera in it's class and price range.

At your age, it's probably more a matter of "how much can I afford to risk if the camera is lost or damaged?". There are some excellent compact cameras in the $300-400 range, and entry level DSLRs or SLTs from a few manufacturers start to appear here as well.

If you truly love taking pictures, you can bend even the least feature-laden compact to your will if there's enough light. It costs more to get models that can shoot in lower light, or change settings without digging through menus.
