Both camera companies make exceptional cameras when it comes to quality.

To know which one is best for you, you will have to visit a proper camera shop to see which fits your hands the best.

After that, you need to do some independent research instead of buying your camera based upon opinion or price.

You did not give us a budget, so it is hard to tell what camera type to suggest.

Spend some time on the websites of Nikon and Canon to see what features different models have and if they are what you need.

If you are asking about sensor performance, then you can look on this website.

Both have their pro's and cons

I prefer you better choose one of them depend on
1) Which gives better service on your country?
I choosed canon because of that

2) Which feel comfortable in your hand.

If you have DSLR video in mind canon will be bit better.

Both make great cameras, one has better image sensors. Sony currently is the number one maker of image sensors in the world. And their Exmor image sensors are the best. They are found in Sony, Nikon and Pentax dSLRs. Currently Nikon beats Canon from top to bottom because of these image sensors.

I'll let everyone else argue about better AF, jpeg engines, glass, body construction. I'm of the belief that the image sensor is king because image quality comes first, anything else you can work around.

Look at the 168, 000 (and rising) other times this question has been asked.

Neither is better, Pentax do the same job, Sony do better video and Olympus are smaller.

Fujifilm do better bridge cameras.

At the cheap end, both are over-priced and under-specified, so buy anything but Benq, Kodak, GE and Vivitar.

On second thoughts, anyone asking this question DESERVES a Benq.
