History:

Nikon has been making cameras since the 1930's. They introduced the first professional level SLR in 1957 and for the most part, any Nikkor lens will work on any Nikon camera

Fujifilm has been making cameras since 1946

So as you can see, both are very experienced making cameras.

My guess is you are asking about P&S cameras since Fujifilm no longer makes a dSLR (too small a market share to compete). Instead, they are marketing compact fully adjustable cameras with interchangeable lenses. The use the same size sensors as cropped frame dSLR's so the sensor performance is much better than a P&S camera

Both Nikon and Fujifilm make excellent P&S cameras

NOTES:

HD only refers to video. HD = 1280 x 720p and Full HD = 1920 x 1080p. If you do the math the number of pixels used is far less than your required 15 mp sensor

More on pixels.

As you can see, the pixel is not that important if you are spending less than $350 for a P&S camera. What is important is the size of the sensor and the SIZE of the individual pixels

Nikon makes great dSLR's. Fujifilm stopped making dSLR's years ago. The dSLR's they made were great too. When it comes to point-and-shoot, their cameras easily break. Fujifilm however has the advantage of at least being user friendly. If you want a great point-and-shoot camera that is also easy to use look to Sony or Pentax.

Both are good, but if the Nikon is an L-series,(especially the L810) the Fujifilm's better.
