Tamron lens? Any good?
Hi… I may buy the tamron 60mm f2 macro at roughly 300 pounds. Is it any good? And what is the nikon equivalent?
The Nikon equivalent is the Nikkor 60mm f2.8 macro.
Personally, I 'd go for the Sigma 50mm f2.8 macro - better than the Tamron and at £269 at Warehouse Express, well within your budget.
Here's a couple of shots with it (one macro + one portrait);
My answer is the same as Deep Blue. My experience is that if you aren't going to go with a lens branded for your camera, the Sigma is a better choice than the Tamron.
You can't really argue with Deep Blue's choice here, the Sigma 50mm is a really nice lens. Tamron's 60mm is nice, just not as nice!
Nikon make the AF-S Micro-Nikkor 60mm f2.8 G ED N, which would be the equivalent lens. Personally I find short focal length macro lenses as a little limited, I prefer greatly longer lenses such as 100 or 105mm lenses.
