Nikkor 50mm 1.8d won't shoot?

On my D7000 I have the Aperature locked onto 22 on the lense, and it's on Auto. But i keep getting the F.EE error on my command screen

You are doing everything correctly, but there's something causing the error.

Just check the contacts on the lens (I assume that your other lenses work just fine) and make sure that they are shiny

Happens when the lens is mounted improperly. Take it off and remount. If you still get the error, the pins may have been damaged.

Set the aperture to the orange number

Set the aperture on the lens at f/22 then look at f/2.8, there's a small lock above the f number, lock it so the lock be in front of the red dot, it should be good now.

Yes, everything seems to be in order except for that error. Try cleaning the electrical contacts of both lens and camera at the mounts. Use a dry cotton bud and avoid touching any glass especially the reflex mirror.
