Is nikon's Nikkor 50mm 1.8G a worthy buy?

So I already have the 35mm 1.8G which is great glass, now i'm looking for 85mm 1.8G to complement it but i find it too expensive for now, as an alternative i'm planning to buy the 50mm 1.8G instead, but is it really necessary to have one if I already have the 35mm? Will it make a big difference? Btw i'm into portrait photography right now, any opinion is greatly appreciated. Will i buy it or not?

Added (1). @thank you, in some occasions yes, really depends, but to be honest, i can't really remember the last time i use my kitlens

Well, when you are using your 18-55mm lens, do you find yourself often zooming to 50mm for the composition you want and coveting a wider aperture?

I tested this lens at some length before buying and was very pleasantly surprised. This is a superb lens. The images are very sharp and the fast f1.8 lens makes it brilliant in low light. Considering the f1.4 version, which also has Nikon's VR on it is over 3 times the price, I can't fault this lens.

It has rapidly become my favorite lens due to its high quality images.

You must consider that when the crop factor is taken into account, it is equivalent to a 75mm lens on 35mm. That said it makes it a great portrait lens

The 50mm will just push you a couple of feet away from your subject. It may make you feel more comfortable having some breathing room between you and your model during closeup shots. It will also surely allow more light to fall on your model's face.

If you have your kit lens, try comparing 35mm and 50mm. To make it more worthwhile, go for the f/1.4 version. It's much more expensive but the extra half-stop increase in aperture size is mind blowing. You will surely appreciate the difference.
