How would the Nikon AF NIKKOR 28mm f/2.8D Lens work on my Nikon digital and my Nikon film?

Hi, I'm looking to buy the Nikor 28mm but I wondered what different it will make between my d3200 and my f80 - I know there's a crop factor. Is the case that it will appear as 28mm when put on my film camera, but then with the crop factor when put on a digital it will be around 42mm or something? (so it will appear wider on photographs taken on my film camera than my digital?)

Also, will the auto focus work on both?

You are correct about the crop factor.

The lens will NOT autofocus on a D3200.

Only AF-S lenses will auto-focus on your D3200. This is in your user manual.

The 28 mm lens with the crop factor renders it equivalent to angle of view of a 42 mm lens on your D3200, as you surmised.

Your F80/N80 can use any of the AF-S lenses as well.

There really is no wide angle prime you can use on your D3200 unless you are willing to manually focus the lens using the electronic rangefinder in the cameras viewfinder. The cost of the AF 20 mm exceeds $600
