Does a Quantaray 28mm f1.8 AF and a Nikon d5000 camera work together, properly?

I got the lens at a yard sale for 5 dollars. I wasn't sure if it'd work, but yeah. Will it do harm to my camera body? My camera is a nikon d5000.

Even if it would work, a $5 lens will not give you good photos.

If the lens fits the camera, why haven't you tried to take pictures with it? You of course have made sure it is the same lens mount, haven't you, with out forcing it on the camera.

I don't like my Quantaray lens.
Save you money and buy a Nikkor.
