Autofocus will not work on Nikkor 105mm macro and Nikon D610?
Autofocus will not work on Nikkor 105mm macro and Nikon D610?
Added (1). I had been using the 105mm (older model) on my Nikon D610 without any trouble and then I lent it to a friend with a D5100. I got it back and the autofocus won't work and the aperture will not adjust through the dials, only through the ring on the lens. How do I fix this?
Perhaps the switch on the body was changed from AF to M. If so, change it back.
You have learned a valuable lesson.
NEVER load your camera gear to any one unless 1) they are a working pro and know how to take care of camera gear AND (not or) they can afford to pay for any damage they do to it while in their possession.
Do your other lenses work fine? If so there's a possibility that the lens was damaged while away from you.
Look for ANY damage to your camera and lens. Make sure that the UV filter is still in place and that there are NO scuff marks on the lens, either the barrel or the front element. Look at your camera. Are there finger prints on the mirror? If so it needs to be cleaned by a proper repair shop because those mirrors can be easily damaged. Why? Because they are special front surfaced mirrors and are very, very fragile. How about dents or any sticky things around the controls (many times someone will spill a drink which contains sugar and they do not report it because they were able to wipe it off the surface of the camera using a moist towelette
Hopefully there's no damage to either the camera or lens so you will not have to demand that your "friend" pay to have it repaired
