Is it a good idea to bring a Nikon camera to Dominican?

I've heard a lot of peoples expensive items get stolen but we're going to this really nice resort in March. I'm going for a wedding so I want to get really good pictures.

Up to you, just make sure you have insurance and don't leave it lying around.

Same as anywhere else - be sensible and don't leave it lying around! I've been to the DR and they do have their criminal element, but in the main, the people are lovely. I could say the same about everywhere else in the world I have travelled - and i've travelled quite a lot.

I took mine there just about a month ago. I lock my camera in the room safe if it is not going to be ON ME. Not near me as on a chair but ON my body when ever I'm traveling no matter where I go.
So, if you do that your less likely to have it stolen. I agree with another of the posters here, insurance, talk to your home or renters carrier about adding a rider that covers your camera, lenses and such that includes travel.
