Now is it fine to buy a DSLR body without inbuilt auto focus motor. I also see my requirement for wildlife photography, macro and portraits. So, do we have good lenses in the market that can perfectly suit nikon D5200… Kindly suggest your ideas and share your views. I would also like to know any other alternative model from caNon and nikon for my requirement and good mid level DSLRs…

If autofocus is crucial to you and you got a cheap body without the AF motor then simply spend more on lenses that have internal motors. All Nikon lenses perfectly suit the D5200.It all depends on the application and at times the skill of the user. Such is the balance of life.

As long as you buy Nikkor AF-S lenses, the camera will auto-focus fine. In fact, those of us who shoot with Nikon cameras with auto-focus motor, prefer to buy AF-S lenses since the auto-focus so much faster.

I use long lenses for wildlife. If you are a casual wildlife shooting, you can get away with a AF-S 70-300 mm VR lens. If you are a serious wildlife photographer, then you will need to be looking at some long lenses with large apertures. I use the Nikkor AF-S 300 mm f/2.8 VR although I do rarely use the the lens with the VR feature turned off

Macro shots will require a macro lens. I use the AF-S 60 mm f/2.8 lens

For portraits, I use the same macro lens, but some like the 50 mm f/1.8 or f/1.4

If you are truly interested in a mid-level Nikon dSLR, look at the D7100.It has a built-in auto-focus and is really considered a semi-pro dSLR

You can look at the sensor performance on this website.

I'm no expert in Nikon, having only used the D7000 for 6 months. However, you could get a Canon alternative, a good one would be the 550/600D. The 600D has swivel screen, but image quality is not drastically different as the sensors are the same (APS-C). What is important is the lens, invest in a good lens before a good body. An 1100 and a 17-85mm f/4-5.6 lens is a decent and cheap upgrade to the regular 18-55mm kit lens.

Why Nikon? Have you handled what Pentax, Sony and Canon have to offer?

None of those manufacturers compel you to make the choice between motor or not, Pentax and Sony have VR built into the body, and Pentax also meter with MF lenses (they don't just accept them).

Yes, Its worth buying with builtin autofocus motor, Why don't you have a look at canon 550d(Discontinued), My god what a camera. This camera is performance matches to Nikon D800 or canon 5D in terms of Quality and Performance.
Since discontinued you can Still Purchase it online. But you can go for Canon 60D instead or Canon 600D

Go ahead and search about Magic Lantern. Then you'll understand y canon 550d.
