How to become a fashion/beauty youtuber without professional lighting and a lot of money?

I want to become a youtuber, but I don't have lighting. I have a pretty nice Nikon DSLR. I'm willing to spend around $20 a month for DIYS and such. Any tips?

Oops

I shoot a lot of fashion, both runway and in the studio.

What does it take?

This is what you will need to add to your existing Nikon digital SLR camera

* 24-70 mm f/2.8… This is the most used lens for runway and studio assignments.
* you need at least three lights in the studio. Studio flash units can cost up to $3,000 each when you add the stand, power source (battery so you can use them outdoors as well) and various light modifiers. I use some 400 watt/second studio flash units.
* when you add being a Youtuber, you now have to light using continuous lighting and those are going to be either incandescent, CFL (the least expensive), LED or HMI (the most costly). Again, you will need at least three light sources.
* the sad news is you have a good Nikon digital SLR, but it is only a still camera with a video feature (as are all the other brands of digital SLR cameras. If you truly want to shoot fashion and beauty video, you need a video camera as well as all those lights

One of my colleagues uses an inexpensive Full HD camcorder (under $300) to shoot his Youtube videos, an external sound recorder (Zoom H1 - $100).

You may want to do some more research before you launch your Youtube channel.

Here is a link to the kind of continuous lighting available at this time
