Which camera is best for me? - 1

I would like a camera for equine photography so good for pictures of horses jumping etc. But also one which is suitable for holiday photos and general every day use. I'm currently stuck between the nikon d3100, the nikon p530 and the cannon sx510hs. Does anyone have a better idea about which would be best?

I do not have all three so I can't compare but I will share my view with you on the Nikon D3100 and hopefully you can figure out where to go from there. The Nikon D3100 has a great body but it is more to do with the lens you buy and I feel this is the same for all the cameras. The better the lens the better the picture will be. The lens that the camera already comes with is great for taking pictures of people on a holiday or such and landscape photographs are also pretty cool. If you are very good at photography you could get the camera to work well on manual mode, something I have always been bad at:/

The camera creates sharp photos and can capture a lot in one picture however you could not just leave it on auto to take pictures of horses jumping. The camera would get a sharp shot of the jump however I doubt it will be good because the lens doesn't have a good zoom for that sort of thing. I was trying to take pictures of my boyfriend doing athletics and I couldn't get a decent one as I was always too far away, even if standing within 20 meters. However it is a good camera so I suggest buy the body but find different Nikon lenses, that would save you money and if you wanted to change what you wanted to use the camera for, you would bring along a different lens. Hope this wasn't too long and helped!

Professional photographers shooting Equine sport use camera bodies with 35mm sensors and fast expensive lenses which cost thousands.

For your use it would probably be better to get a Fuji HS50EXR bridge camera.
This is similar to the Nikon P530 but has faster focusing and a slightly larger sensor.

If image quality like those in the link below appeal to you then investigate that camera further. Having just been discontinued it is more affordable now.
