I did read that the Best Buy package came with a 55-105.To me, that would be the better deal. All that extra stuff in the amazon package is junk.

Some questionable camera stores market those packages and make them sound incredible when in reality all that stuff is not worth anything - low grade optics in the filters, add-on lenses that are junk, etc.

This would be a better deal; either with the 18-200mm, or 55-300mm as an add on with $150 discount if purchased at the same time:

Neither is a good deal and here's why. The D7000 is a 2010 model, and you will be paying close to what it was when it first came out. And you are getting a lot of cheap extras you might not need.

The better deal is to go with craigslist or ebay, and buy used. Score a D7000, even if it's body only, and you can buy the glass you want. If you are the type that wants just one overall basic lens, you could get your own 18-135mm. And later, you could pick up a 50mm for low light work and defocused backgrounds.

If you buy the D7000 for that kind of cash you'll be kicking yourself if a few weeks or months from now Nikon releases the next model for a similar price, maybe even less. If you are ready to drop over 1, 600 bucks not including taxes, might as well pay a little more and buy a full frame Nikon D600, that image sensor rocks.

I would throw out most of the accessories in the Amazon offer - they are junk.

I'm in Australia & buy my photo gear from this store in Hongkong: http://www.citiwideonline.com/au/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=4623&category_id=426&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=65 (this links to the D7000 body at A$759 - about US$775).

This store suits me - may or may not suit you. In Australia they offer full service - in USA you may end up a sole grey market importer. But it may be worthwhile investigating - the money you save could be put to a decent lens

The D7000 is being discounted in many stores
