Nikon D7000 v Canon 5D mk2?

I saw a camera review that showed the images at different ISO settings for the two cameras (with similar lenses of the same focal length) and the D7000 appeared to be better. Mind you, the 5D mk2 was using basic sharpening and the D7000 stronger sharpening. At high ISO's the D7000 produced less noise.
Has anyone had any experience with these two cameras?

I prefer the look of the 5D mk2, but in terms of performance (esp in low light) the D7000 seems better? And probably cheaper?

Any thoughts?

You are comparing the wrong cameras

If you want to compare the Canon 5D, Mark II to a Nikon, you need to look at the Nikon D600

The Canon camera that is usually equated to the Nikon D7000 is the Canon 7D.

When it comes to low light performance, the Nikon D600 is only out performed by the Nikon D3s and D800.

Nikon D7000 is better.

I agree with fotoace here. I've owned and shot both extensively. Why not save up and get a D800? I prefer Nikon glass and I shoot a D4 which is a beast and far better than anything Canon has to offer if you want speed and low light capabilities.

The 5D mk 2 would be my choice. Its a pro camera and herefore built stronger with a greater shutter life. Also it will perform better in low light situations as it is a full frame camera.( pictures will be as good taken at iso 3200, as the D7000 taken at iso 400 )

Another agreement with fhotoace here. Certainly the D7000 has one of the best APS-C sized sensors for low light photography in terms of noise, but I don't know if it quite matches up to the full frame capabilities of the D600 and it certainly doesn't match the D800.

The snapsort comparisons are interesting:

Think very hard before going 5D. To get the best out of the 5D you need L series lenses - they are expensive. Do you have the funds to support it?
