Lens Nikon D3100 doesn't twist all the way back?

So, I have a Nikon D3100, I have had the lens for a while now (standard one) and it's supposed to go from 55 to 18, but somehow I can only twist it to 35 and not any further back
Does anyone have any clue how to fix this? Is there like a screw or anything?

The 18-55 mm lens does NOT have a macro mode.

The possibility is that you may have bumped the lens hard enough to damage it so that it can no longer zoom to its full range.

I do not think that attempting to manually focus the lens with the lens in the auto-focus mode could damage the zooming mechanism of your lens, but in the future, if you do decide to manually focus the lens, using the electronic rangefinder in the cameras viewfinder, ALWAYS move the switch on the camera to the "M" mode

You will have to take it into a camera or repair shop and see what they can discover the problem

I have never used your gear, but it certainly sounds like it's in a macro mode. Some lenses have a macro mode that is only activated within a certain range of the zoom. Once within the range, you can focus closer. Once you've focused closer you can't zoom out of the "macro" range. Set the lens to focus at infinity and you'll probably regain full zoom range.

Sounds like the lens has been dropped or crushed in a bag. The zoom ring is out of round or the internal gears are now damaged. Frankly, it would be cheaper to buy a replacement 18-55mm lens than to repair it.

You mean it only goes from 35mm to 55mm?

Bring the lens to the service center. Not much you can do there yourself.
