Camera card to card reader plugged into the macbook
Google: USB 3 Type C USB-C to SD SDXC Card Reader Adapter
SMFH! I didn't think there was anybody left in the world that didn't know what a card reader is.
Get a cheap USB card reader to connect your camera's memory card directly to the computer's USB slot. Use Finder to do the copying manually.
Don't use a cable.
Remove the card from the camera and use a card reader to get the images into the computer.
Both of my laptops have built-in SD card readers, but many don't.
External card readers are cheap and readily available.
Indeed Macs tend to be a bit awkward about importing photos from any source. Buy a card reader and insert the camera card into the reader, then connect the reader to the Mac. You will probably have to import through iTunes.
