Is the Nikon D3100 worth buying? - 1

I was looking for an upgrade from my old point-and-shoot Canon Powershot ELPH 300 HS, and stumbled upon the Nikon D3100 which looks fantastic for its value. I found it for only $379, although it is about two years old, which is a bit dated. Should I wait for newer, higher quality cameras or buy the D3100?

The D3100 is so much more advanced than the D100 that cost $2, 000 new without a lens, you will probably never out grow it.

It can take up to 5 years to learn how to use a dSLR under any conditions, anywhere and shoot amazing photos just about every time you press the shutter release.

Here are three shots taken with the old D100 with a 6 mp sensor.

When you are able to produce such images routinely, you may or may not be ready to get a more advanced camera.

If you wait for a newer, higher quality DSLR you'll probably never buy a camera. Sony, Pentax, Nikon and Canon introduce new models every 12 to 18 months. Stop agonizing and buy the D3100.

Plan on spending a lot of time reading and studying the Owner's Manual.
