How is cannon better for video?

So i have the Nikon D3200 which records 1080hd video and so does the cannon t4i so why is everyone saying Cannon's better? Is there some sort of compression or something?

I can only show you what I'm getting with my Canon 500D. Remember this is you tube so it's not really accurate as far as quality is concerned but it'll give you a good idea about Canon video.

Since both cameras shoot video at the same frame rates for the various settings and use H.264 encoding, no advantage in either brand. Perhaps other features, using specs from an out dated system, or fan boy chatter - much like the Mac/PC banter. If you're looking through forums, there's lots of misinformation out there. Look at reviews from the camera review sites. They are generally more reliable than forum chatter and will point out deficiencies, pluses, changes between models of the systems they are reviewing.

Its not true that nikon is not better than canon it depends on particular Camera.

The t4i does have faster video autofocus because it uses a phase-detection system rather than the contrast-detection system of the D3200, but the D3200's sensor produces significantly less noise at high ISO and has more colour depth, so it should give better quality video in low light.

At the 1920x1080 2MP resolution which full HD video records at, I suspect you won't see any significant difference between the two except maybe in extreme lighting conditions, when I would expect the D3200's sensor to come out on top.

Who is "everyone"?

Don't listen to ill-informed gossip - if you are happy with your D3200 what does it matter that others prefer something else.
