The memory cards listed in the instruction manual. You should also connect your camera to a computer for a software update when you first get it. I did that and found that my camera would accept the "new' (at that time) memory cards!
As Far as brand goes, each person has their own. Similar to restaurant to eat at! I have always like Sandisk! And as long as you don't use that blasted "delete" button on the camera and upload & format your card (s) everyday that you are out shotting, you will be fine.

I was curious about this myself some time back, so I gathered user review ratings from a vendor (Amazon.com). Here they are listed, in no particular order, with the star rating (5.0 is perfect).

I have a personal gripe with Sony as their SD card disintegrated in my DSLR causing me a $200+ repair bill.

Any of the major brands. I personally use Sandisk. Don't go for cheapo off brand cards to save money. Always carry at least two cards, one in camera, one spare. Memory cards do die, even the name brand ones.

They're all the same as long as you buy it from a reputable store. Too many fakes out there.
