Ok, so i'm new to SLR camera's but eager to start using one. I'm not rich so i'm going to buy used. I've narrowed it down to the older Nikon d200 or the newer Canon t3 1100d. Can anybody help me decide?

No, we can't even make our own decisions. He is not rich. Well ya better start getting rich. Everything you buy is forced on you us and on everyone else. So we think we're eager. Are you all sure you want dslrs?

The old D200 is an APS-C sensored professional camera. It has all the features that its big brother, D3 and D4 when it comes to environmental seals to keep moisture and dust out of its works and can last for many more years. It can use any of the Nikkor AF, AF-I and AF-S lenses as well as a whole bunch of manual focus Nikkor Ai lenses.

Here is a shot I took using my D200 a few years ago.

This was a fashion photo shoot trying to emulate the 1930's with a traveling businessman of that time.

As you can see, which camera you buy will NOT determine how your images turn out. That is up to you and your skills as a photographer.

One of my favorite lenses is an old manual focus 105 mm lens (circa 1975) and I can use it on my D200, D300 and D3.

The cameras you name are not SLR cameras. SLR cameras use film. The ones you named are
DSLR cameras D=digital not film.

I'm a Canon owner and I only recommend what I own and know. My two Canon dslr cameras both give me excellent results.

If you're serious about photography and really want to learn to operate a dslr and its lens I recommend the t3 - a fine camera. If you're into snapping and using the screen instead of a view finder I recommend you save your money and buy a cheap pocket toy.
